Post Four-OG is back

Back to my OG space Marines.

Not sure how you go about painting your miniatures. Normally I have three things going at one time. It can be terrain, a miniature, or bases.

As I do not have a professional studio, as I am not a professional, or an award-winning painter. What I have is a desk which my PC sit on, and the space in front of it, and to one side is where my ongoing projects are during the week.

I have a 6-cube organizer next to my desk. The two end cubes have my paints in the lower cube, and hobby related tools in upper.

The thing looks like this https://target.scene7.com/is/image/Target/GUEST_2a55365a-6b92-4d74-9a6e-3d99a8a53619?wid=1200&hei=1200&qlt=80&fmt=pjpeg

On top of that I have a hobby lamp with 4500K bulb. I had 5K bulbs but when it burnt out Grainger only had the 45K. So 45K it is. I also have a smaller LED lamp with a magnifier which as you can tell, I did not use the magnifier part.

As far as hobby lamps go the one from red grass games I understand is good.

Mainly because colors are rendered well.

I do not paint well enough or am pro enough to drop that kind of dough for a light.

If you can, more power to you.

I think I am like most hobbyist. What I got is good enough.

Speaking of which I also have one of these which I used once, two years ago? https://www.harborfreight.com/head-lamp-magnifier-58788.html?_br_psugg_q=head+magnifier

Yeah, if you have a better idea. Something less cumbersome, let me know in the comments.

I also buy my metal files from Harbor freight, and super glue. Both the gel and regular.

To keep your super glue from drying shut once you open it. Do not put the cap all the way down. Just one turn of the cap. Try it.

I also store my super glue up right.

Here are those links. https://www.harborfreight.com/super-glue-gel-10-pack-68349.html

Now that I have 3 OG Space Marines done, and one Primaris.

I forgot to ad a link last post regarding Primaris, because I sometimes forget that new people to the hobby might not even know that these older metal Space Marines were the dudes.

Here is the link https://www.warhammer.com/en-US/shop/Assault-Intercessors-2020

Only in the past 10 years did 40k Primaris and much newer 30 K start replacing the dudes I have for those of you who do not know.

Back to my OG’s.

The way I envisioned my chapter, we call it grimdark now, I called it real life deployment.

Like the US marines on Guadalcanal, being left by the Navy. The night fighting at close quarters they did. Crossing the air field under fire. Fighting without fresh water.

I wanted my Space Marines paint scheme to reflect that. No bright eyes lens. No equipment that could catch the eye. Being seen was to be shot at.

Only taking pictures and posting them, am I starting to understand the look to entice the audience in.

Will the edge highlight make a difference when playing, no. Even at an arm’s length it will not make a difference.

But they are my guys and I want them to be my way. Something I think is lost when we see all these images of well painted Space Marines.

It is also the reason my pictures are not a video of my Space Marines turning in place. I think details get lost with the turning in place kind of video.

I think this week instead of working on 4th OG, I am going to some clean up and paint scheme modifying on the three I have, and maybe the Primaris.

I do have another Primaris in the works. I need a break from my OG dark. I also really like the assault Space Marines poses of the Primaris.

I thank you for reading, and bearing with my painted miniatures.

I hope it gets you to paint a miniature. One a week. Breaks and family stuff. You get 40 miniatures done in a year.

My 3rd OG Space Marine.

I did not notice, till I uploaded, the white border. Tried a different setup to take pictures.

A closer look at how I did not use my magnifier on my hobby light. I need to work on the eyes.

Right side showing off those ancient shoulder pads.

Rear view. Always happy seeing the backpack.

Left side Maybe instead of highlighting-use the decals?
