Tri 3D printed 40K bike
A failed 3d print 40K/30K Space Marine trike.
3D printed Trike. My friend printed this and was going to throw it out, because it failed. Seeing it, but not a bike detachment player I still wanted to paint it up.
11th edition took my first born away.
The portion that failed. The rear tire. If I bases it, I would just pile dirt around it, or make a very muddy base.
A better view of the print failure.
Remember when you are looking at these photos they are enlarged, and not a good representation of what it would like on the tabletop during play.
Your opponent would be looking at a group of these. If you want you can sand the print marks down. File down any resin like below the head light.
Looking at these photos I can see I did not do the headlight, I did not paint the cables that go to the heavy flamer, and forgot a knee pad.
Yet for a failed print, I still like it.
Here are the two together.
What do you think?
Would you have painted up a failed print?
Thanks for stopping by.
Paint something this week will ya?
Always celebrate the progress.
Portion of the Space Marines built and painted this past year.
Some white metal and some the newer Primaris.
Sometimes we forget how much progress we have made on our hobby.
Life things, birthdays, vacations, and work, keeps us from remembering what we did.
I started this site so I would be motivated to get my Chapter done. 70 white metal space marines. Of the newer 40K stuff, I only owned a box of assault Primaris.
None of my friends owned a 3D printer.
Over the past year I made some headway, mostly because of you. I wanted to thank every one who came to look.
7 of the metal marines are in the picture.
The newer Marines 6 from the Onslaught box, 2 assault guys.
I was trying to get everything in focus, sorry, you will need to looking at my old posts if something interested you.
fortunately or unfortunately for me, GW, came out with MK 3 amour and side tracked me for weeks.
One of my friends also discovered the joys of a 3 D printer, which I befitted from. As all the assault bolters you see came from him.
I did get another 2 white metal marines done.
These 30K guys however do not count for me anyway in reducing my 70 total.
Really 61 as nine white metal guys did get done.
I am working on white metal heavy weapons, so I hope you will come back and check on my progress.
I recommend that every year, you lay your guys out. Celebrate your progress. It is a hobby. Enjoy it.
Paint something this week, will ya. :).
Half squad done. Three MK 3’s and Two first born. Started on the second group has the heavy weapon (Missie launcher?) and Sgt.
Half squad complete. Three Mk’3 and two first sons.
Group picture coming.
Next squad to have heavy weapon.
I know it gets boring after awhile. MK3’s all the time. I just like the suits.
Close up.
You know I am not sure why GW could not make a whole shoulder pad. They did the first time around in 1990?
I am just glad they are back.
I am working on some 3D scout cars, and another bike.
Check them out also when you come back.
Not sure why the upper back got blurry when I edit it.
Thanks for stopping by.
Remember it is just a hobby, have fun, make them the way you want.
Paint something this week will ya.

Third MK 3 to join my OG space marines.
3rd MK3 to join my OG white metal Space Marines.
The 3rd MK 3 to join my OG space marines.
All said and done this 10 man squad, will be mostly of MK3’s. Gray squad is what I call them because of the bases. The heavy weapons Marine I will be able to change out.
You can see I did not use sprue glue for the shoulder pad. Choose instead to dry brush the edge.
I am seriously thinking of making all my MK 6 marines, heavy weapons marines. I have 2 MK3 in the assembly queue armed with heavy bolter. I want to see how they come out.
Stay tuned to see the how it goes. The end result will be a mix of OG, MK3 and MK6 space marines. I am really liking the image in my mind, will the actual result be the same, lets see.
Remember this is our hobby, not our job. Have fun.
Paint something this week will you. :).
Thanks for stopping by.
The
Latest MK 3 to join my OG space marines.
Latest 30K to join my OG white metal Space Marines.
My latest MK3 to join my Death Co and Damned OG.
Not sure how it is for you. For me this squad really fired me up, and I have been working to get the 10 man squad done.
If you noticed the helmet colors on my guys change. Mainly so I can tell them all apart when gaming. I did try the back pack, but did not like it.
I have said this before, but the MK 3 that GW came out with in plastic is to me the best looking. Add Beakie helms, man what a product. Now if I could only get some kneeling or staking for entry in CQB.
I tell you if GW made MK3 in the same poses as their Assault intercessors they would have my money.
Not sure why in this photo the highlights on the raised edges did not come out. Was the whole reason I took this shot.
Had to go with the 3d parts for the guns. Might house rule 2d6 for these guys when playing 1st edition Space Hulk.
Thanks for stopping by. I will get the donate page up and running soon.
Other than that, remember it is a hobby, do it so it brings you joy.
Thanks for helping me paint a miniature, mostly every week. :).
Death CO. OG Space Marine with 3D parts.
Death Company white metal miniature with 3D printed better stuff.
White metal body with new shoulder pad on the right, and newer guns.
Unlike now, all these holsters and grenades were cast on these bodies. The newer plastics are great.
I decided that my Death and Damned guys, I was going to keep the name plate.
I also went with the older back packs.
Better look at the 3d printed storm bolter
Started out this way. Brown rattle can.
The two together. I think they will be my squad leaders in my 1st edition Space hulk games.
Not sure how you feel about the whole 30K first born 40K thing. For me as long as GW keeps making, to me better miniatures, I will keep buying them, and now posting them.
The addition of 3d printed parts makes even these mono pose older white metal dynamic to look at.
Even if I can’t use a storm bolter in game, rules as written.
Thanks for spending time with me.
Paint something this week will ya.
Forget perfect, forget box art. Forget the world for a bit and hobby.
:).
OG Space Marine with 3D added parts stepping up.
Legion of the Damned white metal with 3D printed better stuff.
Finally got this guy and a bunch of other white metal stripped of their old paint job. Started painting them up.
Elected to not paint his eyes. I went with a muted bases. I may wash it down more.
I was thinking when posing him, that he just unloaded with left gun is now looking through the smoke ready to double tap anyone left with the right.
I was always a fan of the knobby shoulder pad and beakie helmet, but not the plastic marine box when they came out in 1990’s.
These are my 2nd favorite back pack. My earlier OG guys, you can see them in earlier posts, have my all time favorite. I should have bought more.
This squad of ten will be a mix of amour types, and weapons. The bases is what will tie them altogether.
Never enough time. I got an idea from doing these guys for the next squad of 10. You may not have read my goal when I started this site was to complete my 70 white metal guys. Like any good game I also bought some new plastic to feed my plastic krak addiction. So all told I will have over 100 space marines.
I have been working on the basics for my Chapter.
Anyway, all of these white metal marines are part of my OG, and they are getting done.
Adding 3d parts and newer plastic parts for me just makes my day.
I am glad that waiting paid off. Contrast/speed paints/ new plastic parts, and 3 d printed parts for the win.
Thanks for coming along for the ride.
Comments welcome.
Paint something this week will ya. :).
OG sniper finally done.
White metal Space Marine Sniper
Finally got this guy stripped of the old paint job, and painted him up the way I saw it in my mind.
Although I had three pairs, all painted in different camo. Was never happy with them. I am with this one, and will am to get the other done.
Maybe on the next one I will make the plants taller to hide him more.
Yes. It is a full metal jacket.
The aquarium plants were washed in white glue, before being washed with grey/black/water contrast mix.
This is the dry brush of grey over the rattle can brown.
All of these white metal marines are part of my OG, getting done.
Even if I will be adding 3 d parts and newer plastic parts from GW.
I am glad that waiting paid off. Contrast/speed paints/ new plastic parts, and 3 d printed parts for the win.
Thanks for coming along for the ride.

3D printed SM biker
3d Printed Space Marine Biker
A friend of mine, printed this Space Marine biker, I like the 30K look to it and asked if I could paint one.
He let me have this one.
The headlight I painted white then yellow, and toned it down with a wash of contrast grey/black 50 50 with water.
The green is Vallejo black green 50 50 with water, over a drybrush and rattle can .
The rear tire was washed with drop of contrast grey, black, and water. over that was a dry brush of vallejo US field Drab.
The blue is a drop of Dark prusssian blue and intense blue from Vallejo with a drop of water. The shoulder pad trim I washed with that grey/black contrast mix.
The helmet lens is aqua also from vallejo. I did dry brush silver on the raised points of the armor.
This is what the dry brushed version looked like before paint. The base coat was rattle can drown. Dry brush khaki, and grey.
Base color going down before the contrast wash. The paint handle is a pill container with double stick tape.
Thanks for coming along for the ride.
